We are Rick and Shannon Dove, missionaries serving in Costa Rica with a burden to reach the Latin world for Christ. It is our joy to share our story, our ministry, and what the Lord has called us to do.

Our mission is centered on four key areas: evangelism, discipleship, church planting, and training national leaders. We ask that you would pray with us—that God would continue to open doors, strengthen His work, and call more laborers to this needy field.

Our Field

We are currently involved in a church plant in Atenas, located in the province of Alajuela, approximately one hour west of San José. We would greatly appreciate your prayers for Iglesia Bautista Victoria (Victory Baptist Church) of Atenas as we labor to see souls saved, believers discipled, and a strong local church established for the glory of God.

Iglesia Bautista Victoria is located in the rural town of Atenas, in the province of Alajuela.  Atenas is located approximately 45 minutes from the international airport in Alajuela and an hour west of San Jose, the capital.

Our Vision

My family and I have served with BIMI since 1998. Our missionary journey began among Hispanic communities in the United States. Then, in 2008, following the clear leading of the Lord, we moved to Costa Rica to continue the work He had placed on our hearts.

After planting and establishing a Hispanic church in North Carolina, they returned to Costa Rica where they had studied Spanish. As his field director, I have been a firsthand witness to his hard work and dedication to our Lord. As pastor of Independent Baptist Church in Clinton, Maryland, I would like to recommend Rick and Shannon Dove and their three children for your missions’ family. Rick and Shannon faithfully served in our Hispanic Ministry here at Independent Baptist Church for many years and were a great blessing. Following the Lord’s command, the Doves established a thriving Hispanic church, Abundant Life Baptist Church, in North Carolina. From there, they traveled to Costa Rica, and furthered their knowledge of the Spanish language. Most recently, they have been involved in establishing two churches in Costa Rica: Berea Baptist Church of Escazu and the San Rafael Baptist Church of Heredia. Since arriving in Costa Rica, the cost of living has increased. In addition, the difficult economic times in the States have had a saddening effect on the Dove’s support level – leaving too little with which to live. I hope that you will add the Rick Dove family to your prayer list and also consider them for a possible addition to your missions’ family.
